EarthTone Variable Kingsnake Young adult. Though it may look like a poor choice of backgrounds on which to photograph this greenish EarthTone it was actually intentional. This EarthTone seems to merge with the naturally greenish-yellow slate. The greenish examples of the EarthTone Variable Kingsnakes can really seem to disappear amongst lichen covered rocks. A curious thing to note on some EarthTones is the black pigment along the bases of the scales starting about mid-body. The black is prominently revealed when a loop turns away from the observer. This specimen has a great deal of dark stippling that looks as if it were applied as a fine mist. |
