River Road Alterna

Adult. A "diamond" patterned blair's phase. This pattern motif is fairly common all along the River Road and occurs in light, medium and dark phased specimens with or without alternates and speckling. It is interesting to note that this diamond shape is somewhat reversed in the neighboring Black Gap population - meaning the north-south angles of the diamonds have become concave indentations that result in hourglass or butterfly shaped primaries.
