River Road Alterna
Adult.
A "diamond" patterned blair's phase. This pattern motif is fairly
common all along the River Road and occurs in light, medium and dark
phased specimens with or without alternates and speckling. It is interesting to note that this diamond shape is
somewhat reversed in the neighboring Black Gap population - meaning the north-south angles of the
diamonds have become concave indentations that result in hourglass or
butterfly shaped primaries.
