The
Metallic Rat Snake is a dweller of the karst in the southeastern corner
of the Texas Hill Country. In many of the deeper arroyos and canyons the
walls will have seeps that support amphibians, small mammals, lizards
and water loving ferns. This in turn provides both larder and
critically needed moist, safe retreats when required for Baird's rat snakes.
