Young adult. This bairdi is about done with the pattern/color transformation. Some adults will retain some pattern on the forebody well after reaching adulthood. It is an interesting process to observe. The metallic sheen developing on this specimen is quite remarkable. The most metallic looking area on these snakes is on the tail to just a few inches above the vent. What we can see of the tail of this animal will do quite nicely.
