Metallic Rat Snake Juvenile. The eastern population of Pantherophis bairdi is known for producing specimens with extensive orange or red pigment, the beginnings of which can be seen on this precocious youngster. The metallic aspect of the background gray does not usually appear until the onset of adulthood. |
