This alterna pair is from La Linda crossing bloodlines
and contain no Stillwell blood. Hypomelanism and hypoerythrism
have commonly cropped up with these bloodlines.
Male - dark phase with clear, bright orange bands
constricted into the shape of a hour glass. Hour glass
shaped orange bands are rare west and east of Black Gap.
When it does occur, it is seen primarily in Lajita River
Road lineages. Conversely, this is one of the more
common phenotypes seen in Blair's phase, Black Gap
alterna. This is a clean, dark, sharp looking alterna
that should darken further as it matures.
Female - a dark gray blairs phase with large,
shotgunned rust orange saddles. The gray of this snake
is reminiscent of gun metal bluing. Individual orange
scales on this female are beginning to undergo random
bleaching. This is a very distinctive Black Gap trait.
This particular bloodline has performed with a high
degree of variability in offspring and has been
responsible for "mega orange" banded blairs hatchlings.
